Our story

Our story begins with Brother Dawood, whose dawah in London and Colombia is part of how the Latin Muslim Association began. From that work came a UK registered charity that continues to support projects in South America.

Gabriel Dawood Herrera Escobar: Al-Colombi.

It is with great sadness that we remember our dear brother Gabriel David Herrera Escobar (Dawood Al-Colombi), who passed away in September 2015 after months of illness in Pereira, Colombia. Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn.

Brother Dawood was a truly inspirational figure who touched the lives of so many and was instrumental in furthering the cause of Islam throughout Latin America. Those who met him recall his friendliness, warmth, and deep determination.

May Allah (SWT) have mercy on our brother, elevate his rank with the martyrs and the righteous, and grant him the highest station in Jannah. Ameen.

A community built on faith & culture

We are a group of Muslims from around the world united in our aim to support brothers and sisters throughout Colombia and other Latin American regions in spreading the message of Islam, based on authentic sources from the Quran and the Sunnah.

It is not our race, colour, or culture that makes any one of us better than the other, but the degree to which we recognise our Creator and adhere to His commands.
